Abstract
Les ouvrages publiés dans les collections de monographies illustrées reprennent et adaptent la formule initiée par « Poètes d’aujourd’hui », rapidement reprise par « Écrivains de toujours », et consistant à agencer un essai critique, un choix de textes et des images. Partant de certains documents d’archives qui témoignent d’une forme d’incertitude quant au genre dont relèveraient ces ouvrages, cet article s’interroge sur la généricité particulière de ces agencements de textes et d’images ressortant de genres distincts. S’ils diffèrent, sur un plan formel aussi bien que s’agissant des modalités du façonnement de l’image de l’auteur auquel ils contribuent, les textes mis en oeuvre participent d’une entreprise portraiturale qui régit en sous-main les volumes de ces collections de même que leur constitution globale.
