Abstract
Ouvrage hybride et difficile à classer dans une catégorie préétablie, Tout bouge autour de moi de l’haïtien-québécois Dany Laferrière est une réflexion composite, déclenchée par le tremblement de terre qui a ravagé Haïti, en particulier sa capitale Port-au-Prince, en janvier 2010. Cet article se propose de mettre en corrélation l’événement (progression des séquences d’action, urgence de témoigner, précipitation des faits) et la méditation de type essayistique qui permet à l’écrivain haïtien-québécois de transcender et universaliser le drame haïtien. Nous nous appuierons sur l’analyse de quelques extraits tirés de Tout bouge autour de moi pour montrer que l’universalisation de la catastrophe opérée par Laferrière est possible grâce à de multiples références de deux types : culturelles (les peintres et les écrivains haïtiens et étrangers, parmi lesquels Paul Morand, Stefan Zweig, Amos Oz) et extraterritoriales (les liens entre Haïti et d’autres espaces, comme le Brésil et le Québec).
