Abstract
La notion de religion populaire fut très présente dans l’historiographie française au cours des années 1970. Grâce à la polysémie de la notion et aux nouvelles avenues qu’elle semblait ouvrir pour la compréhension du phénomène religieux, des chercheurs provenant d’horizons très variés s’y sont intéressés. Cette décennie correspond à une époque de chamboulement et ce tant dans le domaine de l’Église, de la société que du monde du savoir et de la recherche. Le fait de chercher à retracer les différents intervenants dans le débat permettra de mieux comprendre les enjeux stratégiques importants qui sont présents tout au long des discussions sur cette notion.
