Abstract
Die beiden Autoren – der eine damals SPIEGEL-Korrespondent, der andere Diplomat und Mitglied der Bonner Verhandlungsdelegation – schildern die Abläufe, Wider- und Einsprüche und das glückliche Ende auf dem Weg zur deutschen Einheit „so rastlos und atemberaubend, dass man das Leseerlebnis nur ungern unterbricht“, schreibt Ex-Außenminister Sigmar Gabriel in seinem Vorwort zur Neuauflage des Buches. Kiessler und Elbe konnten nicht nur auf enge persönliche Kontakte zu den Schlüsselakteuren des „Zwei-plus-Vier“-Prozesses zurückgreifen, auch interne Informationen waren ihnen deshalb zugänglich.
