Changement paradigmatique de la théologie catholique à l’université à la lumière d’une étude de cas

Abstract
Les études de la religion se transforment rapidement depuis la fin des années 1990. Dans une perspective sociohistorique d’analyse des changements institutionnels, cet article résume l’état de la situation en trois temps : le repli de la théologie dans des institutions initiatiques homogènes, le développement de l’intérêt scientifique pour le religieux, le passage du pastoral au spirituel. Les mutations qu’a connues la Faculté de théologie de l’Université de Montréal depuis les années 1960 sont analysées dans quatre autres sections. Ces mutations constituent le baromètre de trois grands phénomènes interreliés, à savoir la transformation profonde des cultures en ce qui concerne le rapport à la religion, la cléricalisation de la théologie catholique et le bouleversement des grands modèles universitaires classiques. Un nouveau paradigme d’une théologie critique à l’Université publique est proposé.
