Le logement représente le socle par lequel les membres d’une collectivité s’ancrent sur un territoire et dans une communauté mais qui leur permet également de se protéger de la communauté et du territoire. Or, plusieurs phénomènes fragilisent ce rapport au logement et aux espaces, notamment pour les locataires, représentant une menace pour le droit au logement. Il apparaît toutefois que des processus similaires sont à l’œuvre dans ces phénomènes où la dépossession du logement et du territoire exprime un mépris du droit au logement est présent. Les acteurs de ce mépris sont divers : les propriétaires, les gestionnaires immobiliers, tout comme les élus et les fonctionnaires municipaux. Par quels moyens se met en place ce mépris ? Comment les locataires vivent-ils ou elles ce processus ? Face à ce mépris, comment les locataires peuvent défendre leur droit au logement ? Quelles politiques sociales ou urbaines pourraient lutter contre ces phénomènes. \n \nLors d’un colloque tenu à Montréal à l’automne 2019 intitulé Les enjeux du développement immobilier et des politiques d’inclusion : entre mépris et dépossession, nous avons invité des actrices de la lutte pour le droit au logement, intervenant dans trois quartiers montréalais au sein de comités logement, organismes de défense des droits des locataires, afin de tenter de répondre à ces questions. Nous vous présentons donc les interventions de ces militantes provenant de trois quartiers montréalais grandement touchés par les effets négatifs de la gentrification afin d’illustrer comment se met en œuvre le mépris du droit au logement.
