Abstract
Case Presentation: A 6 year old male with a past medical history of appendicitis presented to the emergency department with cramping, intermittent, severe periumbilical abdominal pain. One week prior to admission he had two emergency department evaluations for similar abdominal pain and was diagnosed with constipation. On the day of admission his abdominal pain increased in severity prompting re-evaluation. In the ED he had an elevated lipase (132 U/L), leukocytosis (33 thou/uL) and elevated triglycerides (588mg/dL) after a period of 6-8 hours of poor oral intake. …
