Abstract
La médecine du XVIIe siècle est devenue l’héritière de dispositifs de contrôle religieux sur le corps sain, le corps malade et le corps mort. Dans une quête de connaissances qui a constamment repoussé les limites de l’investigation sur le corps humain, l’histoire de la médecine a été marquée par une succession d’agressions sur le corps et par la résistance de la population à ces agressions. Par le biais d’écrits d’historiens, de philosophes et de sociologues, cet article met en perspective certains fragments de l’histoire qui ont marqué l’évolution du regard biomédical sur le corps – du siècle des Lumières jusqu’à aujourd’hui – pour ensuite porter son attention au corps soigné au sein de notre société contemporaine. Loin des dérives religieuses et scientistes d’autrefois, ce corps apparaît encore une fois assujetti à une autorité médicale, qui se voit elle-même de plus en plus influencée par l’idéologie néolibérale. Dans cette conjoncture, les infirmières occupent une place importante dans la dénonciation des hostilités contemporaines sur le corps soigné et peuvent agir à titre d’activistes dans une téléologie transformationnelle visant à réaffirmer la conscience derrière le corps soigné et à lutter contre ces hostilités.
