Abstract
La biomédecine et la santé publique sont identifiées, par plusieurs auteurs contemporains, comme étant porteuses de la conceptualisation dominante de la santé. Mais qu’en est-il de la vision véhiculée au sein d’une santé communautaire qui a vu le jour au tournant des années 1970, en réaction aux enjeux soulevés par la biomédecine traditionnelle? Cet article propose une réflexion critique postulant des distinctions fondamentales entre santé communautaire et santé publique, sur les plans épistémologique et ontologique. Se fondant notamment sur les travaux de Canguilhem, l’article présente d’abord une description des conceptions de la santé telles qu’appréhendées au prisme de la santé communautaire et de la santé publique. Une discussion s’ensuit autour de la pertinence et de la validité d’un paradigme de santé communautaire, dans un contexte sociopolitique marqué par l’idéologie néolibérale. Le déploiement d’une épistémologie renouvelée pour aborder la complexité du réel et des objets de santé est proposé.
