Abstract
Dr. John N. Ingham earned his Phd at the University of Pittsburgh. He then taught for a short period at the University of Bridgeport, before teaching at SUNY Brockport from 1970 to 1977. Dr. Ingham then went on to the University of Toronto, where he worked until his reitirement. At SUNY Brockport he and Dr. Owen Ireland began and ran the annual New Social and Political History Conference, which was the first conference of its kind, highlighting the then young and developing field of social history. He and Dr. Ireland also ran the university's first team taught courses, one of which was a Modern America survey course. Dr. Ingham was instrumental in the development of SUNY Brockport's Masters Program, and was the program's first coordinator.
