Abstract
Le musée des Augustins conserve un étonnant tableau de Frans II Francken (1581-1642). On y voit des amateurs dans un cabinet rempli de tableaux et de sculptures où trône un singe enchaîné et qu’attaque un homme à tête d’âne armé d’un gourdin. Cette œuvre où tout est signifiant et qui comprend des tableaux dans le tableau nous entraînera vers l’iconoclasme et les guerres de Religion, et nous forcera à réfléchir sur les limites entre l’humanité et la bestialité sur fond d’éloge de la grandeur de l’art.
