Abstract
Partir d’un double constat : 1) la musique est une pratique du lieu qui pourtant 2) s’en échappe dès que possible par la trivialité de l’excuse, au sens de mise hors de cause – grosso modo la situation ne serait jamais appropriée. Partant, comment rester ici quand tous les moyens sont bons pour s’en sortir ? De là, questionner la différence entre composition et improvisation à l’aune de cette accusation de fuir les circonstances à tout bout de champ, en construisant l’analogie hypothétique suivante : l’improvisation est à la composition ce que la science-fiction ou l’anticipation est à l’utopie. Et aboutir finalement à ceci que moins l’excuse est possible plus la musique a lieu. Ou encore, rendre une musique possible peut revenir à se frayer une ligne entre les excuses. Ces méditations sont d’abord issues du grand nombre de discussions que j’ai pu avoir avant, pendant, ou après tel ou tel concert ; ce texte en garde la forme dialoguée tout en pariant qu’un impersonnel s’en dégage.
