Abstract
Le cinéma des femmes autochtones contient aujourd’hui des propositions fortes et percutantes qui transforment le paysage médiatique et cinématographique au Québec. Afin de souligner la présence des réalisatrices autochtones et de reconnaître leur apport grandissant au cinéma québécois, nous présentons et commentons les propos tenus par la réalisatrice mohawk Tracey Deer lors d’un entretien public réalisé en octobre 2017, à l’Université de Montréal, en clôture du colloque « “Je suis île” / “I Am Turtle” ». Organisé par Marie-Eve Bradette, Julie Graff, Gabrielle Marcoux, Alexia Pinto Ferretti et Louise Vigneault, ce colloque interrogeait la place des « représentations artistiques, culturelles et identitaires autochtones dans l’espace urbain ». Dans cet entretien, Deer revient sur son parcours comme femme et réalisatrice mohawk de Kahnawà:ke et elle discute des réflexions qu’elle souhaite mener au cinéma et à la télévision, des différents publics visés par ses créations, ainsi que des voies d’avenir qu’elle désire ouvrir.
