Abstract
Dans le cadre d’une recherche ayant pour objet les discours d’autorité sur la langue en Acadie, cette étude prend comme terrain un corpus d’importantes contributions scientifiques à la linguistique acadienne. L’article s’attache aux actions mobilisées par le chercheur, la chercheuse pour constituer l’objet qu’il entend décrire, une série d’opérations sélectives qui conditionnent, voire constituent l’objet regardé. L’analyse de ce discours savant s’appuie sur les outils de la sociolinguistique critique en proposant une analyse critique de faits, de processus et d’événements. C’est par les travaux qui lui sont consacrés qu’un ensemble de pratiques linguistiques est institué en variété de langue. Cette imputabilité de la recherche dans la construction des objets linguistiques a déjà été signalée, mais reste peu documentée. Ce travail entend y participer. L’étude s’arrête sur de grands chantiers de la linguistique acadienne, des thèses de doctorat de Geddes (1908) à Perrot (1995) en passant par Massignon (1962), Flikeid (1984) et Péronnet (1989). Dans la mesure où ces travaux ont joué un rôle prépondérant dans la définition des pratiques linguistiques comme acadiennes, ces travaux permettent d’envisager diverses postures méthodologiques et d’éclairer quelques enjeux des choix effectués afin de décrire une variété de langue.
