Implantée sur le territoire canadien au XVIIe siècle, la langue française est devenue au Québec une entité fortement empreinte d’identité, s’affranchissant ainsi du français de France et de celui parlé dans les autres communautés francophones d’Europe. Cette étude aborde un aspect qui n’a été ni suffisamment pris en compte par les lexicographes, ni débattu par les métalexicographes : la description de la variation géographique trans-étatique du français dans le dictionnaire bilingue. A partir de l’observation de la place du lexique québécois dans la nomenclature et de son traitement sur le plan des équivalents traductionnels, du marquage topolectal et des différences morphologiques et syntaxiques entre langue cible et langue source, une réflexion sur la dimension plurielle de la langue française au XXIe siècle ouvre de nouvelles perspectives pour une réinterprétation du dictionnaire bilingue. Non plus réservoir d'une unité utopique de la langue française, le dictionnaire bilingue assume aujourd’hui un rôle inédit. Il est devenu le lieu de rencontre des multiples visages de la langue française et de la langue italienne.
