Abstract
La réalisation de l’exposition Fibres marines a été l’occasion pour le Port-musée de s’interroger sur la nature des objets contenus dans ses collections. Recherchant des objets à base de fibres de lin et de chanvre pour composer les différentes étapes du parcours scénographique, il a associé le commissariat scientifique de l’exposition à la détermination de leurs matériaux constitutifs. Une question fondamentale surgit en effet : de quels matériaux sont constitués les objets appartenant aux collections du Port-musée ? Lin, chanvre, coton, matériaux synthétiques ? L’exposition Fibres marines a donc permis de confronter une détermination intuitive et pragmatique à une analyse poussée en laboratoire. L’observation préalable à l’œil nu a été suivie d’une étude approfondie réalisée au sein du LimatB1 à l’aide d’un microscope électronique à balayage. L’utilisation de la haute technologie permet non seulement d’identifier la nature des fibres mais apporte également de nouvelles données sur les objets des collections soulevant des interrogations sur leurs usages et leurs histoires…
