Abstract
En Francia, el debate pblico alrededor del Pacto Civil de Solidaridad (Pacs) habr tenido el mrito de cuestionar la evidencia de nuestra definicin del matrimonio y hasta de la familia. Es un mrito paradjico, puesto que la ley no pretende tocar ni al primero ni a fortiori a la segunda. De todas maneras, aunque nos alegremos o lo deploremos, la definicin de matrimonio y de familia a partir de la "diferencia de sexos" (para retomar los trminos de la controversia), dicho de otra manera, a partir de la heterosexualidad de la pareja parental (si renunciamos a eufemizar la expresin) ha dejado de ser evidente: hemos pasado bruscamente de lo implcito a lo explcito. Porque ya no es ms invisible, esta definicin es objeto de discusiones pblicas: se convierte, hablando propiamente, en discutible. La nueva visibilidad social y poltica de las parejas homosexuales y, ms all, de familias que se declaran "homoparentales" (el neologismo se extiende debido al debate), nos obliga en efecto a interrogarnos sobre nuestras presuposiciones.
