Abstract
Nous proposons de revenir dans cet article sur la récupération de l’islam, notamment dans sa composante politique par les deux extrémismes politiques, l’extrême droite et l’extrême gauche. Nous insisterons ainsi sur le fait que cette religion, par ses valeurs, fascine les groupuscules et les intellectuels de ces tendances politiques. Pour ce faire, nous analyserons le rôle de l’ésotériste français René Guénon dans cet attrait, en particulier depuis sa conversion à l’islam en 1912 ; puis nous montrerons à la fois l’existence d’une extrême droite islamophile, dynamique durant les années 1960 et 1970 et d’une extrême gauche fascinée par son anti-impérialisme et son anticapitalisme les décennies suivantes. Enfin, nous insisterons sur les convergences idéologiques des uns et des autres quant à l’anti-américanisme et l’antisionisme.
