Abstract
El propósito de nuestra investigación fue determinar si existen diferencias entre los indicadores de alteración cognitiva, estado de ánimo y dependencia funcional, comparando adultos mayores que viven en asilo y en casa familiar. La muestra fue de 100 adultos mayores: 50 forman parte de una asociación y los otros 50 residen en un asilo. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el Montreal Cognitive Assessment, la Escala de Depresión Geriátrica de Yesavage y el Índice de Katz. Nuestros resultados muestran diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos. Hay un mayor número de adultos mayores con indicadores de alteración cognitiva y del estado de ánimo en el asilo, en comparación con los de casa familiar; mientras que el perfil funcional se muestra homogéneo en ambos grupos.
