Abstract
Le propos de cet article est de mettre en perspective deux romans belges, Le Conservateur des ombres de Thierry Haumont (1984) et Le Boulevard périphérique d’Henry Bauchau (2008), afin de voir comment la remise en question de l’opposition ombre/lumière commune aux deux textes produit un brouillage idéologique qui reflète les compromissions passées avec le régime nazi. Dans le premier roman, ce brouillage est amplifié par l’absence d’une autorité narrative claire, alors que dans le deuxième roman, il est dilué sous l’action d’une instance narrative forte qui déplace la lecture du plan historique au plan métaphysique. Dans les deux cas, les traumatismes de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, qui étaient dans la période littéraire précédente soit absents soit refoulés, ressurgissent via leur intériorisation dans des destins ordinaires et singuliers.
