Abstract
Des charpentes antiques, il ne subsiste aucun vestige direct, et, bien souvent, l’état de conservation des blocs constitutifs des parties hautes des édifices est lacunaire. Dans ces conditions, comment est-il possible aujourd’hui d’analyser les charpentes des édifices monumentaux grecs ? L’objectif de cet article est de proposer des pistes de réflexion sur l’étude et la restitution des charpentes grecques, en se concentrant plus spécifiquement sur les apports de la prise en compte de l’environnement technique d’une part, et sur leur dimension structurelle d’autre part. Auparavant, un rapide état des lieux historiographique permettra de situer les origines du cadre interprétatif des charpentes antiques, toujours en vigueur, et d’en indiquer les limites.
