Cet article donne la parole à des immigrants reçus sous le statut de travailleurs qualifiés pour témoigner de leur parcours d’intégration socioprofessionnelle à Québec. À travers l’étude du parcours de vie et la méthodologie du récit de vie, sept immigrants ont été rencontrés à cinq reprises durant une année. Les choix méthodologiques et analytiques amènent à des résultats qui renouvellent la réflexion et qui s’éloignent du constat habituel d’une intégration mauvaise ou à tout le moins insatisfaisante au Québec, comme cela a été souligné par certains écrits sur le sujet. C’est dire que malgré les difficultés d’intégration professionnelle rencontrées, les immigrants témoignent d’une satisfaction face à leur processus migratoire, parce que ce dernier repose d’abord et avant tout sur un projet de vie, au-delà du seul aspect professionnel. En effet, ils sont aussi en quête d’un meilleur avenir pour leurs enfants, d’une vie paisible, d’une société laïque et égalitaire. Leur projet de vie se caractérise aussi par une évolution progressive, où les attentes sont réajustées et réinventées en fonction des opportunités et des contraintes de la société d’accueil. C’est dire que durant tout le parcours, ils font preuve de réflexivité et mettent en place des stratégies pour arriver à des situations de vie positives.
