Abstract
Dans le cadre de cet article, nous proposons une analyse du discours social autour de SOGI 1 2 3 (« Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity »), un programme élaboré en 2016 par le Ministère de l’Éducation de la Colombie-Britannique afin de promouvoir la valorisation, le respect et l’inclusion de la diversité sexuelle et de genre au sein des écoles publiques et privées. Cependant, bien que le ministère de l’Éducation ait développé SOGI 1 2 3 dans le but de protéger les droits et libertés des personnes LGBTQ2+ et de contrer l’homophobie et la transphobie, une analyse de son discours révèle plutôt qu’il vise d’abord et avant tout un destinataire hétéronormé et binaire. En nous appuyant sur la notion de communautés interprétatives développée par Stanley Fish, nous montrons que le ministère de l’Éducation tend à ménager les susceptibilités de ce lecteur idéal. Ce faisant, il ne s’attaque pas de front à l’homophobie et à la transphobie, ce qui constitue une contradiction entre son discours, qui se veut ouvert, et les lois canadiennes destinées à protéger les personnes LGBTQ2+.
