Recent FRP research in support of the Canadian Forces
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The Canadian Forces (CF) is targeting the use of FRP materials for the benefit of construction engineers sent overseas on peacekeeping missions. Recent work at the Royal Military College of Canada in support of the CF has been: (i) external strengthening using non-prestressed and prestressed carbon FRP (CFRP) sheets bonded to severely damaged concrete beams and slabs and (ii) standard pultruded glass FRP members for development of an FRP vehicle bridge. The CFRP strengthening of severely damaged 8 m continuous reinforced and prestressed concrete beams showed that continuous beam behaviour can be restored in single spans after continuity had been cut. In field testing of single span 17 and 18 m prestressed double-tee beams severely damaged and strengthened with non-prestressed and prestressed CFRP sheets, the loss of up to l/3 rd of the prestressing strands could be compensated with bonded CFRP sheets. The behaviour of impact damaged reinforced concrete slabs (3 m) also improved with CFRP strengthening. For the FRP vehicle bridge, the testing of the fatigue-prone connections has yielded a negative inverse slope of approximately 10 for a derived pseudo S-N plot. Much more severe than steel connections, small changes in loading range for pultruded FRP connections could lead to large changes in fatigue life.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
