Abstract

In this study the spall strength of neat UltraBlast spray polyurea and UltraBlast polyurea reinforced with irregular alumina is investigated using plate impact testing. A scanning electron microscope is used to determine the surface morphology of the neat and reinforced samples. The spall strength was found to increase with the addition of alumina. This is attributed to the porosity of the neat spray the reduction of porosity in the reinforced sample as well as the increase in density and wave speed.
