Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Many scenarios of physics beyond the standard model predict the existence of new gauge singlets, which might be substantially lighter than the weak scale. The experimental constraints on additional scalars with masses in the MeV to GeV range could be significantly weakened if they interact predominantly with leptons rather than quarks. At an ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider, such a leptophilic scalar (${\ensuremath{\phi}}_{L}$) would be produced predominantly through radiation from a $\ensuremath{\tau}$ lepton. We report herein a search for ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{L}$, ${\ensuremath{\phi}}_{L}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ($\ensuremath{\ell}=e$, $\ensuremath{\mu}$) using data collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. No significant signal is observed, and we set limits on the ${\ensuremath{\phi}}_{L}$ coupling to leptons in the range $0.04<{m}_{{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{L}}<7.0\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. These bounds significantly improve upon the current constraints, excluding almost entirely the parameter space favored by the observed discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment below 4 GeV at 90% confidence level.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
