Abstract

Cet article propose un tour d’horizon des vingt-cinq dernières années de recherches françaises sur l’entrée dans la vie adulte des jeunes sortis de protection de l’enfance, à travers leurs évolutions méthodologiques et thématiques. Les recherches se sont en effet de plus en plus axées sur la période difficile de la sortie de placement et ont mis en lumière les difficultés et ressources de ces jeunes sans soutien parental, dans leur insertion résidentielle et socioprofessionnelle. Dans un contexte où l’insertion professionnelle est fortement associée à l’augmentation de la durée des études, elle-même dépendante de la capacité des familles à subvenir aux besoins des jeunes, la prolongation de l’Aide sociale à l’enfance après la majorité permet aux jeunes qui l’obtiennent de trouver leur place dans la société.
