Abstract
Nos últimos anos, o “arquivo”, tanto como conceito quanto como objeto, vem passando por uma transformação. A crescente disponibilidade de câmeras fotográficas e de vídeo, analógicas e digitais, levou a uma proliferação de documentos indexados fora dos arquivos oficiais e suscitou questões sobre o que constitui um “arquivo” e, consequentemente, sobre o que constituem “documentos de arquivo”. Ao mesmo tempo, cineastas estão se apropriando de imagens e sons de várias fontes, quebrando assim a distinção entre esses documentos e os “arquivísticos”. Isso exige uma reformulação da própria noção de documento de arquivo. Este artigo reformula a noção de documento de arquivo não como um objeto, mas enquanto uma experiência do espectador ou como uma relação entre o espectador e o texto. Defendo que certos documentos audiovisuais, ao serem apropriados por cineastas, produzem no espectador o que eu chamo de “efeito arquivo”, e essa experiência atribui aos documentos um tipo particular de autoridade “comprobatória”.
