Abstract
L’étude de la vulnérabilité des sociétés et des facteurs humains y contribuant est au centre des préoccupations de nombreux auteurs. Plus spécifiquement, la problématique de l’aléa inondation, conséquence de l’anthropisation de milieux humides ou inondables, fait l’objet d’un intérêt récent, mais marqué. Cependant ces recherches sont encore trop rarement réalisées dans une optique opérationnelle. Pourtant, en interrogeant le passé, il est possible de comprendre le déroulé des mutations s’opérant sur un espace spécifique donné afin d’en imaginer le futur. Le cas du village frontalier de Laplaigne, situé en bord d’Escaut belge, est à ce titre exemplatif. Lié à l’humide, il s’en est détourné pour finir par l’ignorer. Aujourd’hui, n’est-il pas temps d’imaginer un nouveau paradigme permettant d’inventer de nouveaux modèles d’aménagement du territoire qui réintroduiraient l’eau dans le paysage ?
