Abstract
Rappelant la nouveaute de l'interet manifeste au Quebec pour les questions de sante au travail, l'auteur souligne l'importance de ne pas limiter les recherches a l'analyse de la seule toxicite des matieres industrielles produites, alors qu'on peut soupconner l'ensemble des conditions de travail d'avoir aussi des effets nocifs pour la sante des travailleurs. Ainsi, les resultats d'une recherche realisee aupres d'un groupe d'ouvriers astreints au travail par equipe dans une usine de textiles, indiquent que ces derniers sont beaucoup plus affectes par des troubles du sommeil et de la digestion que leurs camarades travaillant regulierement de jour. De meme, l'horaire rotatif semble provoquer et accelerer la formation d'ulceres d'estomac pour une fraction importante des travailleurs qui y sont soumis. Enfin, compte tenu des problemes de sante associes a de nombreuses autres conditions de travail, il apparait peu probable d'atteindre a une veritable politique de sante au travail sans une transformation des structures economiques qui profitent de l'insalubrite.
