Abstract
ZusammenfassungDer 2008 erschienene Roman, der zweite des Autors, reiht sich in diejenige Tradition der kanadischen Literatur ein, die vielfach auf die desolate soziale Situation der Ureinwohner aufmerksam macht, die Rückbesinnung auf indigene Überlieferungen fordert und formal die europäische literarische und die indigene orale Dichtkunst miteinander verbindet. Der Roman schließt inhaltlich und durch das Thema der indigenen Identität und Selbstfindung an das erfolgreiche Erstlingswerk des Autors an, Three Day Road, 2005 (Der lange Weg, 2006, B. Münch, K. Razum), und verbindet stark kontrastierende Schauplätze und Figuren miteinander: entlegene Indianersiedlungen und die Wildnis an der James Bay im nördlichen Ontario, indianische Stadtstreicher in den Straßen Torontos und die mondäne Welt der Models, Partys und Designerdrogen in Montreal und New York City.
