Cet article examine comment les journes d'hospitalisation d' autres niveaux de soins (ANS) sont finances grce au modle de financement pour les chirurgies oncologiques en Ontario et value les choix stratgiques pour mieux traiter la question des journes ANS. On y mesure la contribution des journes ANS au financement des hpitaux ainsi que l'impact de la suppression du financement pour les chirurgies oncologiques ou de sa raffectation. Bien que les cots associs aux journes ANS en chirurgie oncologique soient faibles, cet article met en vidence le besoin de stratgies politiques pour raligner le financement dans l' ensemble du systme de sant de l'Ontario afin de mieux rpondre aux besoins des patients en attente d' ANS, de rduire la pression sur la capacit des lits d'hpital et d' amliorer l' optimisation des ressources.
