Le documentaire Lepage au Soleil.À l'origine de Kanata d'Hélène Choquette raconte la genèse du spectacle qui a tant fait parler de lui avant même d'être présenté.Ce film témoigne de l'idée de donner à raconter l'histoire des Autochtones du Canada à une troupe cosmopolite, composée d'artistes appartenant à des peuples eux aussi éprouvés par les injustices.V oilà un demi-siècle, le Théâtre du Soleil a élu domicile au bois de Vincennes, à l'est de Paris.Dans le cadre enchanteur de cette forêt ancestrale se pratique un art millénaire selon un modèle idéal, avec une troupe permanente.Dans Lepage au Soleil.À l'origine de Kanata 1 , la caméra volontiers contemplative d'Hélène Choquette, portée par le violoncelle d'une enveloppante trame sonore, sillonne le bois au gré des saisons, longe les quais de la Seine, se glisse dans les loges et la salle de répétition.Pendant deux ans, la documentariste s'est fait témoin du processus créateur de Kanata pour assister à la rencontre entre Robert Lepage et la célèbre troupe, loin de se douter de la polémique qui allait éclater à l'été 2018, après 46 jours de tournage.
