Abstract
The issues of NATO cooperation with the Balkan, post-Soviet and the so called «contact» countries are discussed. Various forms of partnership between the Alliance and these states are examined and the probability of their joining the NATO in the short and long run is determined. The issues of involving of non-member states in NATOs military operations, as well as the perspectives of further development of the political dialogue between those countries and the North Atlantic Union are also discussed.
