Abstract
Les émotions des anthropologues sur leur terrain peuvent soutenir la production de questionnements scientifiques et de débats méthodologiques par leur traitement in situ ou a posteriori, mais sous quelles modalités? Cette question est discutée à partir de fragments ethnographiques en relation avec des situations de soins en Afrique de l’Ouest. Après avoir rappelé le rôle des cadres sociaux dans la légitimité méthodologique attribuée aux dimensions sensibles et affectives du travail des chercheuses et chercheurs sur leur terrain, j’interrogerai leurs affects en tant que ressource puis risque. J’évoquerai comment ils peuvent soutenir la connaissance en orientant le regard vers des objets à interroger ou en devenant un élément de l’échange dans l’enquête. Puis je soulignerai comment parfois ils la perturbent, engageant dans leur sillage des phénomènes de mémoire et d’histoire, individuelles et collectives. Ce point sera développé au prisme de l’interprétation des émotions des personnels de santé pratiquant une médecine dans un contexte de pauvreté.
