Cet article analyse l’activité de soin mortuaire à partir de son apprentissage et autour d’émotions telles qu’elles peuvent se déployer en situation tutorale au travail. Bien que le climat qui règne dans une chambre mortuaire puisse être légitimement qualifié d’émotionnel, ce n’est cependant pas lui que nous avons choisi d’étudier, mais ce qui s’en détache par moments, par phases, les émotions susceptibles de déclencher de l’apprentissage selon les appuis théoriques retenus. L’objectif est de pouvoir ethnographier les émotions occurrentes afin de pouvoir rendre compte des apprentissages. Une réflexion méthodologique s’ordonne autour de la difficulté à pouvoir saisir ces émotions au moment même de leur surgissement. Nous proposons un dispositif méthodologique combinant différentes méthodes : l’observation, l’enregistrement audiovidéo et l’entretien d’autoconfrontation. Nous avons également repéré l’influence des émotions des enquêtés sur la conduite de recherche. Des pistes de réflexion et d’action sont avancées.
