Le rappel de rêves chez les aînés présentant un trouble cognitif léger

Abstract
Cette étude s’intéresse à l’effet d’un programme d’activité physique (PAP) sur la fréquence de rappel de rêves (FRR), un potentiel marqueur des capacités mnésiques, et sur les difficultés de sommeil des aînés présentant un trouble cognitif léger de type amnésique (TCL-a), prodrome probable de la maladie d’Alzheimer (MA). Quinze TCL-a de 60 ans et plus (M = 74, ET = 6.67) ont suivi un PAP de 12 semaines. La FRR est mesurée à l’aide du Questionnaire sur la fréquence de rappel de rêves (QFRR), alors que les symptômes d’insomnie à l’aide de l’Index de Sévérité de l’Insomnie (ISI). Un test-t pour échantillons appariés révèle que la FRR a significativement augmenté après la participation au PAP, suggérant ainsi son efficacité pour améliorer les capacités mnésiques des TCL-a. Un test du khi-carré d’indépendance statistique révèle que la fréquence des symptômes d’insomnie ne diffère pas significativement après la participation au PAP, témoignant de son incapacité à améliorer les difficultés de sommeil chez cette population. Également, l’amélioration des capacités mnésiques ne semble pas liée à la diminution des difficultés de sommeil. Cette étude exploratoire permet de mettre en évidence les bienfaits potentiels d’une intervention d’activité physique pour prévenir l’évolution du TCL-a vers la MA.
