Abstract

Cet article est de nature programmatique et méthodologique. Il porte sur la presse francophone de Louisiane du dix-neuvième siècle et vise à situer ce corpus au sein d’une série d’orientations scientifiques qui ont cours actuellement, notamment en histoire littéraire de la presse. La presse de Louisiane constitue un patrimoine imprimé qui a joué un rôle important au sein de l’histoire de la francophonie continentale et atlantique, et c’est à ce titre qu’il convient de l’étudier. Nous proposons une lecture médiatique et littéraire de cet ensemble, consacrée autant aux grands journaux d’information (L’Abeille de la Nouvelle-Orléans, le Courrier de la Louisiane) qu’aux journaux plus spécialisés (L’Union, La Tribune de la Nouvelle-Orléans, défenseurs des Créoles de couleur dans les années 1860, par exemple, ou encore la petite presse littéraire). De plus, l’article invite les chercheurs à inclure la presse de Louisiane au sein des recherches menées grâce aux outils numériques et à l’étude des circulations médiatiques (phénomènes de « viralités » et de réimpressions d’articles d’un journal à l’autre, trajectoires internationales des écrivains-journalistes).
