Abstract
Cet article propose une analyse des conflits sociaux de la postindépendance dans les manuels d’histoire d’Haïti publiés depuis les années 1990. Cette période est en fait marquée par l’existence d’une double approche historiographique, proposant chacune une lecture des luttes sociales passées, ainsi que par des changements sociopolitiques (chute d’une dictature) et éducatifs (introduction d’une réforme éducative) survenus dans la société haïtienne. L’analyse proposée cherche à rendre compte des fondements épistémologiques et des enjeux éthiques liés à la construction du mode d’appréhension de la liberté proposé aux élèves à travers les manuels publiés depuis cette période. Nous montrons que le traitement des conflits sociaux à travers ces manuels participe d’une logique de légitimation des inégalités sociales (passées et présentes) en dissimulant l’idéal démocratique qui sous-tend la participation de certains groupes sociaux à des luttes sociales à travers l’histoire d’Haïti.
