Le Parti québécois dans le nouveau système multipartite

Abstract
Depuis 2007, la compétition partisane au Québec a pris la forme d’un système multipartite, avec quatre partis maintenant représentés à l’Assemblée nationale. Dans ce nouveau contexte, notre attention se porte sur le Parti québécois (PQ) qui a célébré ses cinquante ans d’existence dans l’année électorale de 2018, mais a en même temps connu un important revers électoral, marquant une autre étape de l’érosion continue de son soutien électoral dans la population québécoise. Dans cette étude, nous examinons les dynamiques générationnelles du comportement électoral des Québécois pour tenter de cerner les raisons du déclin du PQ. Les données de cinq enquêtes postélectorales (2007-2018) montrent que les sources du déclin du PQ se trouvent parmi les plus jeunes cohortes, en lien avec leurs attitudes envers la diversité et l’interventionnisme étatique, et surtout leur appui à la souveraineté.
