Abstract
Soprano, cheffe d’orchestre, muse, directrice artistique, mentore, la Canadienne Barbara Hannigan mène à tous égards une carrière exceptionnelle pour son éclectisme, pour le niveau incontestable d’excellence de ses réalisations et pour l’énergie inépuisable qui semble l’habiter. Catapultée au statut de superstar par une renversante interprétation du rôle de Lulu à Bruxelles, en 2012, nommée « artiste Étoile » au Festival de Lucerne en 2014, lauréate du Glasshütte Original MusicFestivalAward en 2020, Hannigan a créé plus de 85 oeuvres, en grande partie écrites pour elle. En 2017, elle lançait Equilibrium (eq), un programme de mentorat unique destiné à un petit groupe de jeunes artistes en début de carrière qu’elle sélectionne elle-même. En assistant aux ateliers eq, l’auteure a observé qu’en plus d’encourager ces musiciens à aborder la carrière avec confiance, discipline et joie et à s’entourer de partenaires artistiques stimulants, Hannigan leur offre d’être leur première partenaire dans les projets novateurs qu’elle continue d’embrasser.
