Tema: Ingenieria sostenible La crisis ambiental y energetica es un tema recurrente en la politica global a nivel mundial y en latinoamerica (Estenssoro Saavedra, 2010; Santamarina y Cho, 2011). El crecimiento poblacional y las exigencias de confort conllevan a actuar sobre las construcciones civiles a traves de nuevos sistemas alternativos de usos de energia renovable que constituye un desafio para lograr un uso mas racional de la energia. La energia geotermica es la energia almacenada en forma de calor por debajo de la superficie del terreno. En funcion del rango de temperaturas presente en el subsuelo, se pueden clasificar en energia geotermica de muy baja, baja, media y alta entalpia (Xydis et al., 2013). La energia geotermica de muy baja entalpia es la que se puede aprovechar para la climatizacion de construcciones mediante el empleo de bombas de calor geotermicas (Fu et al., 2013). Este tipo de sistemas energeticos ha despertado el interes de numerosos investigadores alrededor del mundo en estos ultimos anos (Adaro et al., 1999; Sanner, 2001; Lund et al.; 2005; Yun y Santamarina, 2008; Iannelli y Gil 2012; Fu et al., 2013; Hahnlein et al. 2013). Sin embargo, los intentos de aprovechar el sistema de energia de baja entalpia son aun escasos. Los sistemas de climatizacion a partir de geotermia de baja entalpia en viviendas estan muy desarrollados en el norte de EE.UU., Canada, Japon, Austria, Suiza, Grecia, Autralia y Europa (Maghiar y Antal, 2001; Brandl, 2006; de Moel et al.,2010; Xydis et al., 2013) pero existen pocos antecedentes en latinoamerica (Flores Larsen et al., 2002; Cabral et al., 2004; Iannelli y Gill, 2012).  En este trabajo se plantea el importante desafio de estudiar sistemas alternativos de tecnologias de construccion que puedan aprovechar la energia geotermica y que puedan ser aplicados en suelos loessicos.  Se presentan aqui las caracteristicas de los suelos loessicos, el analisis de la conductividad termica y como influye esta en los sistemas geotermicos de baja entalpia. Tambien se presentan la revision de calculos y diferentes configuraciones para uso del sistema.
