Abstract
Demensia adalah penyakit neurodegeneratif yang dimulai dari awal kehidupan dan menyebabkan menurunnya fungsi kognitif. Penyakit ini menyebabkan masalah kesehatan masyarakat dan masalah sosial. Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya demensia, salah satunya adalah kebiasaan merokok. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan merokok dengan penurunan fungsi kognitif pada lansia di Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 2 Jakarta Barat. Studi ini merupakan studi analitik dengan desain potong lintang yang dilakukan selama lima bulan. Pengambilan 68 responden lansia secara purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Montreal Cognitive Assessment versi Indonesia atau MoCA-Ina yang bersumber dari stroke registri-INA 2012. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji chi-square dengan angka kemaknaan p < 0,05. Hasil studi tidak ditemukan hubungan yang bermakna antara merokok dengan demensia (p = 0,40), tetapi subyek perokok berat memiliki faktor resiko 2,11 kali lebih cenderung mengalami penurunan fungsi kognitif. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah tidak didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara merokok dengan penurunan fungsi kognitif.
