L’affirmation régionale : l’exemple de la poésie madawaskayenne de Sébastien Bérubé en Acadie

Abstract
Nous proposons dans cet article de questionner les différentes postures identitaires adoptées par les gens de la région du Madawaska, une enclave majoritairement francophone située à la frontière du Nouveau-Brunswick et du Québec, au Canada, ainsi qu’à la frontière du Maine, aux États-Unis. Les particularités qui se dégagent du discours historique régional, officiel et non officiel, seront mises à profit dans la lecture des deux premiers recueils de poèmes d’un auteur madawaskayen, Sébastien Bérubé, pour saisir comment la poésie permet de se représenter et être productrice d’une identité qui, quoique régionale, puisse néanmoins tendre vers l’Autre. Cette identité régionale, qui peut souvent se résumer à une opposition binaire entre « nous » et « eux » laisse transparaître des traces de multiples appartenances. Ainsi, le questionnement de la poésie madawaskayenne de Sébastien Bérubé nous semble à même de jeter un nouvel éclairage sur cette mixité du « nous » et du « eux » dans la construction et l’affirmation d’une identité régionale en constante transformation.
