Abstract
No presente artigo, trato das dinâmicas de circulação por meio do transporte público na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, considerando o dispêndio de tempo e energia decorrentes deste processo. Investigo principalmente as relações produzidas entre os indivíduos urbanos e a metrópole, e o potencial de interação presente nas situações e locais de trânsito. Argumento pela existência de exercícios de observação e interpretação do ambiente a partir das vivências particulares ao uso do transporte público na capital carioca, nos quais a paisagem é capaz de informar sobre limiares, perspectivas e narrativas dos passageiros. Como metodologia, adotei a observação participante em diferentes terminais rodoviários e linhas de ônibus que cruzam as diversas zonas da cidade. A partir da realização dos trajetos, pude perceber como o transporte, os terminais e os fluxos de trânsito são não apenas momentos ou áreas de transição, mas espaços de sociabilidade e formulação de escrições sobre o Rio de Janeiro, traduzidas na fala das cidades.
