Abstract
The research objectives are as follows: to analyse the modern state of new written majoritarian languages of Dagestan and to reveal current tendencies in this sphere. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the author for the first time examines functioning dynamics of the languages under study in the sphere of school education and in the periodical press over a quarter of a century, compares recent data with the data of 1995. The research findings are as follows: the author traces functioning dynamics of the languages under study in the sphere of school education and in the mass media sphere, which allows concluding on their actual vitality. Relying on the findings, the researcher identifies possible factors influencing language vitality.
