Abstract
L’un des cadres analytiques de l’anthropologie linguistique aux États-Unis et au Canada se présente comme une (méta) pragmatique de l’indexicalité. Ce cadre de travail est inspiré par les écrits de Charles S. Peirce (1839-1914) sur le signe. La lecture de Peirce a transformé le contexte des débats au sein de l’anthropologie sociale et linguistique nord-américaine au cours des quelques quarante dernières années. Cet article présente les présupposés qu’inspire la sémiotique pragmatique de Peirce. Il explore les façons dont les travaux de Peirce sont recontextualisés dans le champ des enquêtes de l’anthropologie sociale et linguistique.
