L’expérience subjective de la discrimination systémique: étude de cas sur la population québécoise d’origine latino-américaine

Abstract
Cet article vise a contribuer a une meilleure connaissance theorique et empirique de l’experience subjective de la discrimination systemique. L’approche adoptee relie l’acte discriminatoire, lui-meme singulier et situe, au cadre societal qui le rend efficace. En retenant le cas de la population quebecoise d’origine latino-americaine, on analyse les reponses d’environ un millier de ses membres afin d’observer les liens entre la victimisation et le bien-etre subjectif, ainsi que les differentes facons dont ils se representent comme cibles potentielles de discrimination, en tenant compte des differences dans les stereotypes auto-rapportes par les femmes et les hommes. Les resultats de l’analyse montrent, entre autres, que les personnes ayant experimente de la discrimination affichent des niveaux de satisfaction moins eleves dans les variables liees au statut social subjectif. L’experience subjective de la discrimination est associee au sentiment d’etrangeite ressenti, au bilan personnel du parcours migratoire et a la perception qu’a l’individu de sa position dans la societe.
