Abstract
Tout en se situant dans le sillon du magistère de Paul VI, Jean-Paul II et Benoît XVI sur l’écologie, l’encyclique Laudato si’ a soulevé, à sa publication en juin 2015, une marée de commentaires et de réactions qui, aux yeux de l’opinion publique internationale, a fait entrer pour la première fois l’Église catholique dans les grands débats sur la crise de l’environnement. En fait Laudato si’ se distingue par quelques innovations marquantes, qui ont trait notamment à la place faite aux pays du Sud, à la critique très nette des effets pervers de l’économie de marché, à la prise de position sur le réchauffement global et à l’ouverture œcuménique. Dans l’ensemble, ces éléments suggèrent de possibles lignes d’évolution du magistère catholique au XXI e siècle.
