A switched resonator converter having continuous buck gain is presented in this article. The converter has a single energy transfer capacitor and distributed inductors. As a result, converter operation is based on the multiple resonators. The ratio between the inductors can be adjusted to vary the regulation range. In that range, converter gain can be varied modulating either pulsewidth of the control signals or its frequency. To this end, one of the inductors is operated in both resonant and linear modes. Hence, the converter has a multiresonant and multimode operation. The resonant operation helps turnonandoffthe switches having zero-current, and it is load-independent. However, switches connected to the inductor that changes its operation in between resonant to linear modes have hard-switching at that instant. The converter operation is analyzed, and it is verified using experimental results in this article.
